Personal Experiences

Here are just a few example of how I have utilized the perks of credit cards over the last few years:

Fly in Business Class

I was able to try out EVA Air's Royal Laurel long-haul business class for the first time (and for free!)

Treat My Family To Free Hotel Stays

I used my points to redeem for Marriott hotel stays with my parents in Taipei. Seeing their excitement and smiles made it all worth it!

Expedited Immigration and Security

With Global Entry, I was finally able to bypass the arduous immigration experience on arrival. Especially as non US citizen, this has drastically sped up the time I need to get out of the airport but also make the overall experience much more pleasant. TSA PreCheck has also made me LOOK FORWARD to clearing security, as I no longer have to remove my shoes, belt, laptop, camera lenses, etc. when flying. Plus, I get to skip the long lines! Both these benefits came included with my Chase Sapphire Reserve, and is also widely available on many other credit cards.

Global Entry and TSA PreCheck saved me so much time and made travel less stressful

Lounge Access

Pre-pandemic, I fly long-haul at least twice a year. Especially when I have long layovers or when I am about to board a 15-hour flight, I enjoy having a place to shower, eat, and rest up before a long journey. Priority Pass membership included with my Chase Sapphire Reserve (and many other premium cards) gives me unlimited access to over 1000+ lounges worldwide.

Covered for Lost and Damaged Items

I was reimbursed twice for two almost brand new AirPods that I had lost while traveling. My MacBook Pro was also reimbursed when it experienced issues after Apple's warranty had expired.  Credit card benefits like purchase protection and extended warranty have you covered in these situations.

Extended Warranty and Purchase Protection are some of the most undervalued perks of credit cards!

Reimbursed for Delayed Baggage

When my baggage from a recent flight did not arrive until the following day, my credit card reimbursed me for all the expenses incurred while I was without my luggage! Having benefits like lost, delayed, or damaged baggage insurance (included in many travel card) proved incredibly useful!

Chase covered my expenses until my delayed baggages arrived

Save on Insurance and Daily Rate When Renting Cars

Collision and theft insurance comes standard on many travel credit cards, which saved me the need to pay extra when renting a car. Additionally, having Executive Status with National and 20% discount with Silvercar, both perks of holding the Chase Sapphire Reserve, helped me save even more!

I saved on insurance costs and 20% off Silvercar daily rates with my credit card!
